The “Gigacity Champion” is a prestigious international award presented to promote the development of digital infrastructure and the expansion of broadband internet services. This award evaluates the initiatives and investments made by various organizations to help cities achieve “Gigacity” status.
The award was presented to Hasan Omarov, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Aztelekom LLC.
Assessing the importance of the “Gigacity Champion” award for Aztelekom, H. Omarov noted that receiving this prize is international recognition of the successful steps taken to deliver high-speed communication services to various cities and regions of Azerbaijan. At the same time, the award is a clear indicator of Aztelekom’s long-term vision and commitment to digital transformation.
For reference, this is the third awardAztelekom has received in the past year. As the main operator of the successfully completed “Online Azerbaijan” mega-project, Aztelekom was previously honored with the “Speedtest Award for Fastest Fixed Network” by the global broadband and mobile network analytics company Ookla, and the “Best Practice of Home Broadband Development Award” by the renowned IDATE company, which has 45 years of international expertise in digital transformation. All three awards were presented to a fixed network internet provider in the country for the first time in history.
