Aztelekom: Technical Foundation Established for 200 Mbps Internet Speed Target

Achieving an average internet speed of 200 Mbps and higher in Azerbaijan over the coming years is considered a realistic goal.

This was stated by Hasan Omarov, Acting Director General of Aztelekom LLC, a company within AZCON Holding, during his appearance on the “QəbuldASAN” program.

According to him, as part of the Online Azerbaijan project, the expansion of fiber-optic infrastructure across the country has already resulted in the establishment of a gigabit-capable fixed broadband network.

“Today, Azerbaijan already has the technical capabilities required to transition to average internet speeds of 200 Mbps and above. The projects implemented in recent years have created the core infrastructure needed to achieve this goal,” Hasan Omarov noted.

He also stated that Aztelekom’s efforts to implement 10G and 50G PON technologies will enable the company to provide users with internet services at speeds of 500 Mbps and higher in the future.

It should be noted that in recent years Aztelekom has received several prestigious international awards. The company was recognized by Ookla with the Fastest Fixed Network award, by the World Broadband Association with the Gigacity Champion award, and by IDATE with the Ultra-Broadband Resilient Network for AI Development award.
